Feature & Follow Friday #11

Hi peeps…

If you are new to the #FF fun, Feature & Follow is a blog hop that expands your blog following by a joint effort between bloggers.

Feature & Follow is hosted by Rachel of Parajunkee and Alison of Alison Can Read.

Ok, so here’s how it works… Leave a comment on this post so that I can follow you back.

For more details regarding Feature and Follow have a look at the following websites -

Make sure to follow back if someone follows you! Let’s start spreading some blogger love…

Q: What drove you to start book blogging in the first place?

Great question! I'm going to sound really stupid now, but I didn't realize that there were book blogs out there. I know what you're thinking - "seriously, can this chick be anymore blond?" lol I LOVE to read and I so badly wanted to discuss the book I read with someone and tell them what I liked or hated, but people don't always want to listen to me being overly animated about characters in a book or the story line. So I started a Twitter account and the first two book bloggers I found were, The Bookish Brunette and Parajunkee... I.WAS.IN.AWE!

And so began the late nights of trying to set up my own blog - cursing Blogger was my new favourite thing to do lol :) Anywho... that's what drove me to start blogging, sharing my love for reading, my thoughts on books and meeting authors and other book bloggers :)

Towards the end of 2011, I was indisposed for a couple of months and the only thing I could do was read books. One fine day, I decided to write down my thoughts on a non-fiction book I had just finished (The Age of Turbulence: Adventures in a New World by Alan Greenspan), which is when the idea of starting a blog struck me. I never imagined getting into blogging at that time, the blog was supposed to just be something where I kept notes on books I read. But then I joined Goodreads, met a lot of interesting authors and started getting requests to actually review books. I was thrust into the book blogging world unwittingly, but I am really glad to be here!

  1. Hahah I think what happened to you happened to a lot of us. It's hard when you want to have a enthusiastic chat about a book, what you love, what you hate and then the person is just like... "okay... I don't really read..." . There are definitely a lot of great people to chat to about books with here xD

  3. Great story! It's funny because I've read several FFs now and all of them are kind of different (obviously) but also have some very specific similarities. LOL. My FF is at lkhillblogspot.com and musingsonfantasia.blogspot.com! Happy Friday! :D

  4. Hi Alexia!
Nononono, I thought I was the only book blog out there as well! That's why my URL is "the1bookblog": it's a constant reminder of my ignorance, haha. I don't remember the first blogs I saw (I think it was The Neverending Shelf...) but I remember that feeling of awe :)Thank you SO much for stopping by Pages, it means a lot. And thank you for following!

And Ritesh! Same here, I somehow, unwittingly, became part of the book blogging community! And I'm glad for it as well!

You two have a gorgeous blog, and I'm especially fond of the rating system :D I'm a new follower via GFC!

    Happy reading,
    Kirthi
